Dan received his Ph.D. in Oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He is currently a Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Saint Louis, was formerly a Professor of Civil and Coastal Engineering at The University of Florida, and was also a senior scientist with the U.S. Geologic Survey. Dan is an expert on coastal processes, including waves, currents, sediment transport, and morphodynamics. Dan provides expert witness consulting services regarding injuries or deaths related to rip currents, surfing, swimming, scuba diving, and small boat accidents, and also provide consulting advice on coastal development and surf safety issues.
